Currently, to visit Cuba, every traveler must get a tourist card at the airport from where they take a flight to Cuba. But starting July 1, 2025, Cuba will put a definitive end to the use of tourist cards. All international travelers will be required to obtain an electronic visa (e-Visa) prior to departure.
Starting July 1, 2025, travelers will only be allowed to enter Cuba with a valid electronic visa. The tourist card will be permanently discontinued as of June 30, replaced by the fully digital system.
The eVisaCuba platform currently doesn’t support online payments and each Cuban embassy or consulate handles applications and payments independently, which means travelers will have to send a money order or check to the embassy or consulate after the online application.
Depending on your nationality and embassy to make the payment, the cost of the e-visa can be from $25 (example: France or Spain) to $100 .
The e-visa is issued as a single-entry visa and valid for a stay in Cuba up to 90 days. This stay can be extended once for an additional 90 days, bringing the total allowable time in the country to 180 days.
Canadian travelers: e-Visa included in airline ticket
Applying for an e-visa will be mandatory for all travelers to Cuba, except for Canadian citizens. The e-visa required for Canadian citizens flying directly from Canada to Cuba is automatically included in the ticket. But if a traveler makes a stopover in a third country, a separate e-visa application will be required.
Arrival form
Every traveler, including Canadian citizens, must complete an online form within 7 days prior to arrival. The form is available at D’Viajeros online form includes health, customs, and immigration information. It also activates your electronic visa.
After arrival in Cuba
Upon arrival in Cuba, all travelers must present the following:
- Passport – valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry.
- D’Viajeros form – which includes QR code and e-visa number.
- Travel Insurance – proof of travel insurance with medical coverage.
- Return ticket – A return or onward ticket.
