asean2Low-cost carrier AirAsia plans to launch a AirAsia ASEAN Pass that will allow travelers to fly to 10 different destinations in Southeast Asia in one month for RM499 (approx $150). This does not include airport taxes.

Going on sale from January 15, 2015, this pass involves a credit based system for flights within ASEAN countries – Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Philippines, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

The pass will have two options: at RM500 (RM – Malaysian Ringgit) (approx $150) with 10 credits, each credit worth RM50, and the second being priced at RM900 (approx $269) for 20 credits. The pass is valid for a month from the date of first travel. The credit-based system acts like a single currency, which reduces the hassle of dealing with differing foreign exchange rates as routes are valued according to credits.

Pass holders will be able to purchase flights to over 137 routes throughout the region with these credits being priced from one credit up to a maximum of eight credits one way.

The pass will be available for booking on at its launch.
