Having emergency numbers in the country you’re visiting should be one of the first things on your to-do list. Although you may not be able to make a call to the emergency number depending on the restrictions on your phone carrier plan, it is vital to keep the numbers handy in case you need to reach out to authorities. Travel Safe allows you to access those numbers in about 200 countries, which you can save to your favorites and easily access them.

With location enabled, the app will automatically set the default screen with the numbers of the country you’re in. You can tap the icons to call or text the services. You can also set the country by tapping the globe button in the center and select from over 200 countries. When you make a call to any emergency services your location (in terms of latitude and longitude) is displayed on top of the screen.

This chart helps to know how aperture, ISO and shutter speed helps take great pictures

April 21, 2015

Taking pictures is the one thing everyone loves to take when traveling. While there are a lot of point-and-shoot cameras, along with smartphone ones, that auto-adjust the settings to give you a good picture, some of us love to use our DSLRs in manual modes that requires adjusting the ISO, aperture and shutter speed.

It’s not easy for beginners to know the complexity in the relationship between ISO, aperture, and shutter speed. But, Lifehack has a graphic that helps make sense of it. Check out the article too to know how the amount of light you let it affects a photo, how certain settings can increase noise, and how focus changes.

The top section represents aperture, the middle shutter speed, and the last ISO.

We have all used ride-sharing apps like Uber and Lyft to reach the airport and it is definitely cheaper than using a taxi, especially in cities like Los Angeles. But the problem is to get home from the airport – most ride-sharing apps don’t allow that because of airport restrictions. Although it is possible to get Uber for airport pickup, it’s not easy to do so.

Now, Wingz is a new ride-sharing app that offers airport pickups too. It works the same way as Uber or Lyft, but has fixed pricing based on distance. And the price doesn’t change if you’re stuck in traffic!

Cleverlayover will help you save money by searching non-partner airline routes

April 13, 2015

One of the best travel hack in terms of finding cheap airfare is to buy the cheapest ticket you can find to any transit city in a continent and then book a separate flight on one of that continent’s budget carriers to your final destination. For example, if you’re booking a flight from Los Angeles to Tirana, Albania, then you can book a return flight from LAX to any of the European cities like London, Paris, Munich, etc. And then look for cheap flights to Tirana.

But doing this requires patience to check multiple aggregate websites and airline sites to search all the potential routes to find those possible savings. This is what Cleverlayover does for you.
