Tripomatic – iOS app review
Bang for buck: It’s free!
Ease of use:
Planning a trip and searching for all the things-to-do and must-sees takes time. There are a plethora of websites out there that will plan trips for you, but of course you have to pay a price for that. Or else search for all of them yourself and plan it. And there’s the question of how do you go from one attraction to the other? Have I covered all of them? How long does it take to walk from one place to the other? Do I need public transportation? All these questions can be answered by Tripomatic for you.
Tripomatic launched their app for iOS and now you can plan your trips using their app. With offline guides and maps (for purchase of $1.99 each), you can add destinations or sights on specific days and plan your trip.
After reviewing the desktop site, there are a lot of things that needs to be worked on the mobile site:
- We didn’t see an option to add multiple destinations in one trip – You can add only one country at a time.
- Click on the list of destinations and then tap that ‘search’ box. It does not bring up the keyboard to type!
- Select any destination and then start adding the sights to see. The app can be tricky to work with – if you start looking at the sights or destinations first, you will not be able to add them to specific days. This means that you have to, first, add the number of days of your visit and then start adding destinations/sights.
- The list of destination (when starting to build a trip) or sights (when adding them to your trip) is neither alphabetically listed nor specific to a city or a city. For example, if you want to cover Aqaba in Jordan on day 1, and Petra on day 2, then you will not see ‘Petra’ as an option. Instead you will see ‘The Treasury’ as an option!
Apart from the few of the problems with the app, there were quite a many of them to list all of them here.
Send us your experience if you have used the app.
