TripEasy Country Essential Guide – iOS app review
Bang for buck:
Ease of use:
With all the travel guides out there, the series of Essential Country Guides from TripEasy don’t come close to giving information that any “essential guides” should offer. We looked at Peru’s guide and here’s our take on this:
The landing screen gives you two tools that you can make use of – weather and world clock. Other than these, browse the list of attractions, look at the list of attractions on a map or just search for POIs.
The “Attractions” lists all the attractions alphabetically. These are main attractions that any tourist would visit, but not a comprehensive list. Tap on any one of them and the app shows details of that attraction. One of the first things any traveler would expect to see is opening hours, costs and maybe directions to the place, which lack in this guide.
Tap on that “search” icon and the app will give you list of services (three pages) around that attractions.
Select any particular service and the information is not helpful. All it does is list that service with a call-in number (if available) or show directions from where you are.
Here are some other features of the app:
- The World Clock is practically useless at the time of writing this review.
- The weather shows information from Google Weather, but for multiple names of a place, it doesn’t give you list of matching names. For example, we entered ‘Prague’, and the app showed weather for Prague, Czech Republic, but didn’t give any matches for ‘Prague’.
The interface is neither neat nor appealing. But the 99c for an app that claims to be a guide to a country is not worth it.
