The final day in Bolivia was the most relaxing having visited almost every sight in Copacabana. I had a filling breakfast at Utama Hotel, and checked out at 10am. The first bus to leave Copacabana for La Paz was three and a half hours later at 1:30pm from the bus station, which was a block and a half downhill walk from the hotel.
With a lot of time at hand, I left my bags at the storage room in the hotel and headed for the Lake shore for a one last view. And after wailing my time at the shore, I picked my bags and was off to the bus station at 12:45pm. There were many buses lined up that leave almost at the same time around 1:30pm. So look out for the first bus in line, pay the amount to the attendant near the entrance and hop in!

![]() There are two buses daily from Copacabana to La Paz – 1:30pm and 7:30pm and costs Bs 15. Almost all the buses start almost at the same time. This is what was told to me by the hotel staff and also by signs posted everywhere across the town. But attendants at the bus station were of the opinion that non-state run buses run every hour, which was conflicted by a lot of other locals. To ensure a ride to La Paz, make sure to take one of these buses and not rely on the hourly-bus-opinion. |
After a 4 hour ride, again passing through the lake canal in between, I was in La Paz, assuming the bus would drop us to the cemetery. Instead, it stopped at some random street (about 5-6 blocks north-west of the cemetery) and luckily I found a taxi soon (which is not easy to find one in that area).
Another 30 minutes to the La Paz International Airport (LPB) and I had checked-in by 6:30pm. My flight to Los Angeles was at 10:30pm with two connections – Santa Cruz, Bolivia and Miami, USA.
Tick tock, tick tock… four hours of nothing to do!
Flight departed on time.
Forty-five minutes to Santa Cruz -> 1.5 hours wait at Santa Cruz -> 9 hours to Miami -> 4 hours layover at Miami -> 5 hours to Los Angeles – all in all it took me almost 24 hours to get to Los Angeles after reaching La Paz airport!
