Ventoura – iOS app review
Bang for buck: It’s free!
Ease of use:
Meet the Tinder of travel companion. This is what Ventoura does. You sign up using Facebook, upload pictures and add details about you, and Ventoura will display other travelers or locals for you to swipe left or right. Each person will have a flag under their picture telling you where they are from. If you get matched with someone, then you can contact the traveler and, perhaps, travel together.
You have the option to select the gender you’d like to match (read travel) with and if you enter your destination city, then the app will show you everyone who has been there or would be traveling. The list of cities to select from is very basic and covers some main cities worldwide.
There seems to be some bugs in the application where it shows the new matches even when there’s a message indicating they have finished showing all the matches.
Ventoura takes a stab at the idea of traveling with strangers using social media. While many others have tried this idea but never really succeeded because most people would not rely on complete strangers as fellow travelers. Having said that, if you do end up traveling with that complete stranger, make sure to exercise caution and use your common sense.
This is a great way to find fellow travelers with whom you can communicate and explore the world.
