There are many apps that track your places of visit. You can check in to restaurants or bars using Yelp or Foursquare and give reviews too. But Mapstr, a hybrid map and note taking app, lets you easily bookmark your favorite restaurants, bars and more.

Open Mapstr to be presented with a map where you can search for any business bu location, name of business or scan an address. The app lists all the nearby businesses if you have chosen location search. You pick your favorite, add your notes and bookmark it.

Tag the places you add to favorites with descriptive keywords such as ‘to-try’ or ‘sushi’ etc. for easy access (via search). If there’s a particular reason you like that place then add it to the notes – ‘best martinis’ for example. You can then filter by keyword and find the perfect place in no time.

Widely used apps like Google Maps do almost the same – except that Mapstr allows you to add notes to places that will tell you why you had added that place.

Mapstr is not a social app where you won’t find any reviews, comments by other users. This is just a simple and personal app that lets you annotate your favorite places.
