See, learn and locate your destinations using Trover

November 17, 2012

TroverIf you’re at a destination and need to know all the cool places to see and restaurants around your location then you must visit Trover or download their app for iOS and Android.

Trover is a community of food, travel, adventure and photography enthusiasts who enjoy sharing favorite things to do, see and dine – worldwide. Every eye-catching image on Trover is an original, taken by someone eager to share the subject with other like-minded visitors.

Unlike Pinterest, every image in Trover’s massive archive is geo-tagged, so you know precisely where it was taken, and how far away from you is it located. A single click on any image puts you directly in touch with the person who took it, making it easy to initiate a dialogue and gain insight about their experience.

TroverThe app on a mobile phone is very easy-to-use and the interface is simply amazing, but browsing on a desktop can be a little difficult when viewing the list of pictures. The distance may or may not be accurate on the row of pictures you’re viewing, but will give you an approximate idea of where you are.

Select any particular image and apart from the things you can do, you’d expect to see the distance to that place, which is missing from the desktop site (see picture on left). And don’t be so sure about the distances of the places or pictures you’d see. For example, we selected Guatemala City and in the first row of the pictures, there was one taken in Antigua, but the distance was 0 miles!

Nonetheless, this is an excellent website to discover dining & sights around your location.
