Obtaining a pass to Machu Picchu can be difficult and checking availability of the 500 passes granted each day can be a task. So ease this out, Tucan Travel has created a page to take the agony out of obtaining Machu Picchu passes.
In order to preserve the Inca Trail Trek and its surrounds, the Peruvian authorities currently cap the number of Inca Trail trekking permits to 500 per day, which includes trekkers, guides, porters and other support staff. Permits often sell out several months in advance and you must book well ahead to secure your place, particularly if you want to trek in the high season between June and August.
Tucan Travel has a team based in Cuzco who are able to book and collect your permit in person. This means that as soon as your permit is confirmed, you are guaranteed to trek the Inca Trail on the date that you want to travel.
They recommend booking your permit at least four months ahead to avoid disappointment. Remember that the Inca Trail Trek bookings is on request until confirmed by their Cuzco office. Once confirmed, they cannot make any amendments to your Inca Trail permit.
Follow the instructions on their page and see if you’re one of the lucky ones to obtain a pass.
