You are planning to travel to this wonderful destination and wondering if there are some deals out there, or if there are any must-see sights. Just ask your friends on Facebook and Twitter or get recommendations from other travelers by joining Gogobot.com. This new website that debuted in November can just do that.
After signing up for a free account, members can link to their Facebook and Twitter accounts to find friends who are already part of Gogobot and then have the option to follow them so they can read about any reviews they have written on their travels. One of the strongest part of the site is planning a trip. You can ask any travel-related question — say, the best place to have dinner on Saturday nights in Paris or the most romantic hotel in Caribbean, and the posts it on your Facebook wall, your Twitter stream and sends it to the Gogobot community.
Other users can reply to your questions and the answers will be shown as structured data – address, website, phone number and even reviews that other users may have. You can then browse through the suggestions and add the most appealing ones to your trip plan; they are plotted out for you on a map.
We gave Gogobot a try – asking for recommendations for the our upcoming trip to Croatia and within a few hours we had recommendations coming in from our users and the rest of other Gogobot members. Upon selecting the four cities we will be visiting, the site produced a list with relevant details for each and an easy-to-read map.
Earlier this month, Gogobot took itinerary charting one step further when it started partnerships with Kayak, Orbitz, Priceline, Expedia and Hotels.com. Members can book a hotel directly on the site through one of the five sister sites. Gogobot pulls up the prices each one is offering the hotel for so users can shop for the best buy.
